Waste King Legend Disposals with EZ-Mount

Waste King disposals have some of the longest warranties of any brand available.

Not only that, but they are very affordable. With that said, it’s important to buy the right disposal for your needs and budget.

Waste King disposals are made with 2 different types of mounts: 3-bolt or EZ-mount. They also can be either continuous feed or batch feed, but continuous feed is most commonly used. The Waste King domestic disposals range from 1/3 HP to 1 HP. If you’ve ever lived in an apartment that had a garbage disposals then there is a good chance it was 1/3 HP.

Personally, I would not purchase a disposal based solely on its horsepower. There are more important factors, and if you’re going for a higher quality disposal, they generally have higher horsepower anyway. Having corrosion resistant grinding components is much more important.

If you’re still undecided on what type of mount/feed disposal you want, read this article about the difference between the different types of Waste King disposals.

Our Recommendation:

These two disposals are what I recommend if you’re looking for a disposal with an EZ mount that’s either continuous or batch feed. The L-3200 has a great 8 year warranty (longer than any InSinkErator disposal) and has all stainless steel grinding components. The L-2600 has a 5 year warranty with all stainless steel grinding components as well. These are the best bang for your buck.

About the EZ Mount

There are two major differences between the two mount types. The 3-bolt mounting system has all stainless steel components, and the EZ mounting system has plastic and aluminum components. The 3-bolt mounting system has a non-removable hush cushion (splash guard), and the EZ mounting system has a removable splash guard.

Honestly, the big difference between the two mount types isn’t about how difficult they are, but rather the material the mounts are made of and the number of steps you have to take to finish the install. The EZ mount is, in fact, easier, but either one are not particularly difficult. Plus, you only do it once.

If you would rather have stainless steel than aluminum and plastic, then don’t be afraid of the 3-Bolt mount. Waste King doesn’t consider either type to be any more durable than the other, and it is purely based on your preference.

There is no difference in performance of the motors used in the disposals made with either mount type.

Waste King Disposals with EZ-Mount – Continuous Feed

There is no performance difference between batch feed and continuous feed disposals. It’s purely your preference. Continuous feed is the most commonly used, and are turned on/off by a wall switch. The batch feed disposals are turned on/off by inserting the stopper into the drain, so food scraps are ground up in “batches.”

You can see how batch would be safer if you’re worried about kids putting their hands where they don’t belong. The batch feed can’t be turned on unless the drain is closed by the stopper. Also, as a side effect of having the stopper over the drain there will be less noise coming from the disposal while grinding.

Waste King L-111 – 1/3 HP

The L-111 is Waste King’s cheapest disposal. Waste King is well-known for having the longest warranties in the industry, but with the L-111 you only get a 2-year warranty.

Let me tell you why:

It’s all about the grinding components. You’ll find that 1/3 HP will chew through anything you should be putting down your disposal, that’s not the issue with the L-111.

There are several pieces that make up the grinding mechanism inside the disposal: the grind ring, swivel impellers, turntable, and grinding chamber. The swivel impellers are the teeth of the disposal. As the turntable spins, the impellers chew through your food scraps. In all of the Waste King disposals, these are made of stainless steel and are corrosion resistant. However, the turntable and grind ring in the L-111 is made from galvanized steel which will corrode much easier and quicker than stainless steel.

You can expect at least a couple of years of use from the L-111, but eventually the corrosion will cause either the motor to fail or it simply won’t spin anymore as the rust seizes up the grinding components.

At the time of writing this article there isn’t a big difference between the L-111 (Click Here For Price) and the L-2600 (Click Here For Price).

I would save myself the trouble of replacing the entire disposal in a couple of years and just get the more corrosion resistant L-2600.

Waste King L-1001 – 1/2 HP

Aside from the extra horsepower, the L-1001 is the same disposal as the L-111. You get the same 2-year warranty with the L-1001 as you do the L-111. The L-1001 also has the same galvanized steel grind ring and turntable. This means you can expect corrosion to eat up the grinding components in a couple of years.

In case you didn’t read about the L-111, the L-1001 and L-111 are the cheapest disposals available from Waste King. They also have the shortest warranty (2 years). This is because of the grinding components. The main components that chop up your food scraps are the swivel impellers, grind ring, and turntable.

In all of the Waste King disposals, the swivel impellers are made of stainless steel. That’s great! However, in the L-1001 and L-111, the grind ring and turntable are made of galvanized steel. It corrodes much easier and quicker than stainless steel, especially in the environment a garbage disposal lives in.

This means you can expect to have to replace these disposals in a few years. It’s no surprise the warranty is only 2 years.

I recommend starting your search for the right disposal with the Waste King L-2600. At the time of writing this article, there is only about a $10 difference between the L-1001 and L-2600. Check the price of the L-2600 here.

Waste King L-2600 – 1/2 HP

If you’ve decided on getting a disposal with an EZ mount, then you’re in the right place. The L-2600 is a great buy both in terms of power and quality.

Features:

    • 5 Year Warranty and Lifetime Corrosion Warranty
    • 1/2 HP Motor
    • Stainless Steel Grinding Components (Impellers, Grind Ring, and Turntable)
    • 36″ Power cord attached
    • Removable Splash Guard
    • 115 Volts and 4.5 Amps
    • Continuous Feed
    • EZ Mount

Unlike the L-111 and L-1001, the L-2600 has ALL stainless steel grinding components. This means you get the most resistance to corrosion. What better evidence of the lifespan of the disposal than comparing the warranties Waste King offers? You get a 5-year warranty and lifetime corrosion warranty with the L-2600, but only a 2-year warranty with the L-111 and L-1001.

The price difference is small, so spending the extra ten or so dollars for the L-2600 (Check Price) is definitely worth it.

Now that you’ve found a unit that has great corrosion resistance and lifespan, what else is there to consider?

Power and noise. Though I believe 1/2 HP (or even 1/3 HP) is plenty of power for chopping up anything that should end up in a garbage disposal, more power can’t hurt!

If you’re interested in getting a disposal with some sound proofing, check out the L-3300.

Waste King L-3200 – 3/4 HP

The L-3200 has the third longest warranty offered by Waste King. This is my most highly recommended Waste King disposal. Check the Price.

Features:

    • 8 Year Warranty and Lifetime Corrosion Warranty
    • 3/4 HP Motor
    • Stainless Steel Grinding Components (Impellers, Grind Ring, and Turntable)
    • 36″ Power cord attached
    • Removable Splash Guard
    • 115 Volts and 6 Amps
    • Continuous Feed
    • EZ Mount

You get the best corrosion resistant grind components: stainless steel swivel impellers, turntable, and grind ring. It’s what you would expect from a disposal with a lifetime corrosion warranty.

On top of all that, the 3/4 HP motor has a lot of power. Rest assured you will be able to grind just about anything with this disposal, but be careful and follow Waste King’s recommendation for what should end up in the disposal.

Waste King L-3300 – 3/4 HP

The L-3300 is nearly the same disposal as the L-3200, but you get additional sound insulation with the L-3300 plus a 10-year warranty.

The rest of the parts are the same, including the corrosion-resistant stainless steel grinding components.

Features:

    • 10 Year Warranty and Lifetime Corrosion Warranty
    • 3/4 HP Motor
    • Stainless Steel Grinding Components (Impellers, Grind Ring, and Turntable)
    • 36″ Power cord attached
    • Removable Splash Guard
    • 115 Volts and 6 Amps
    • Continuous Feed
    • EZ Mount
    • Sound Insulation

The 10-year warranty for the L-3300 is one of the longest warranty available for any domestic garbage disposal. Waste King puts their money where their mouth is with this product.

The Waste King L-3300 is the largest disposal I’ve discussed in this article, so I’d like to point out how the dimensions have changed since the L-111.

The dimensions of the Waste King L-111 are 12 11/16″ tall and 5 3/16″ diameter, and the Waste King L-3300 is 14 1/2″ tall and 8 1/2″ in diameter.

Check out the specifications if you’re looking for more details about the dimensions for installation.

Waste King L-8000 – 1 HP

Finally, the Waste King L-8000 has a Lifetime Service Warranty and Corrosion Warranty and is the longest warranty available for any domestic garbage disposal.

With a 1 Horsepower motor, it is also the largest domestic disposal made by Waste King. You won’t have any trouble grinding all kinds of food scraps with his disposal. There are also some improvements in the quality of the steel used for the grinding components and sink flange, so this is some of the most durable stainless steel disposals available.

You can expect well over 10 years of use from this disposal.

Features:

    • Lifetime Service Warranty and Lifetime Corrosion Warranty
    • 1 HP Motor
    • Improved Stainless Steel Grinding Components (Impellers, Grind Ring, and Turntable)
    • 36″ Power cord attached
    • Removable Splash Guard
    • 115 Volts and 7 Amps
    • Continuous Feed
    • EZ Mount
    • Sound Insulation

The L-8000 is the largest domestic disposal available from Waste King. It’s dimensions are 16 1/16″ height and 8 5/8″ diameter. Also, it weighs about 15 lbs.

The 1 HP motor spins at 2800 RPM’ with impellers made from cast stainless steel.

Overall if you’re willing to spend the money, the L-8000 will outlast any disposal mentioned here. For most people, the power is overkill.

Waste King Disposals with EZ-Mount – Batch Feed

The batch feed disposals are essentially the same disposals as the continuous feed. The L-2600TC is the same as the L-2600, the L-5000TC is nearly the same as the L-3300, and the L-8000TC is the same as the L-8000.

Batch feed means there is no wall switch to turn the disposal on/off. It is activated by plugging the drain with the stopper. This means you load the disposal with food scraps, then twist the stopper in place to turn on the disposal, and once you pull the stopper out the disposal will turn off. The disposal will only run with the stopper in place, so there is no risk of injury.
